1. Ask your child to point to the tree climber.  Ask: What animal is this? (cat)
2. Ask: Would you be able to climb a tree like that? Why or why not?
3. Look at the cat’s paw. Ask: What parts of the cat’s paw help it to climb? (claws) Why are claws good for climbing trees? (Cat claws are sharp, which helps them to attach to the tree’s bark.)
4. Ask: What other animals have claws? Do you think they can climb trees? Why or why not?
